Packing list for a one-week trip
For a week away, most people pack for the days they'll have plus one or two spare outfits, and plan one laundry stop if they travel light. Here is a checklist by category, and the things that are most often forgotten.
Documents and money
- Passport or ID card, and visa if you need one
- Booking confirmations (flights, stay, car, tours), offline or printed
- Travel insurance details
- Bank card plus a second card kept separately, and some local cash
- Driving licence if you'll rent a car
Clothes for seven days
- Underwear and socks for each day, or for half the days if you'll do laundry
- 4–5 tops and 2–3 bottoms that go together
- One warmer layer and a light rain jacket
- Sleepwear
- Comfortable walking shoes plus one other pair
- Swimwear or smarter clothes, if the plans need them
Toiletries
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Deodorant, shampoo and anything you can't easily buy there
- Sun cream and lip balm
- Check the liquids rule for carry-on bags at your departure airport; it differs between countries and airports
Electronics
- Phone and charger
- Power bank
- Plug adapter for the country you're visiting
- Headphones
Health
- Your regular medicines, with enough for a few extra days
- Basic first aid: plasters, painkillers, something for an upset stomach
- Glasses or contact lenses and their case
Most often forgotten
- Plug adapter
- Phone charger
- Medicines
- A reusable bag
- Hairbrush or comb
Making it a shared list in Kordy
We make Kordy. Its General Packing List template covers the categories above, and there are ready-made lists for beach, ski, camping and business trips too. Add your own items, assign the shared things (the adapter, the first-aid kit) to one person and tick them off as you pack; everyone in the trip sees what's done.
Checklists and templates are free. With Kordy Pro you can save your own templates and keep a list private.
